Crime and Punishment

The main character, Raskolnikov, a student that had dropped university and lives in an apartment building in St. Petersburg. He has a very stubborn behavior and believes in his own truth. After dropping college, he lived isolated in his apartment. Due to financial reasons, he kills an old pawnbroker, Alyona Ivanovna, and her stepsister. He was not caught physically, but his mind and conscious told a different story. He becomes very ill after committing the crimes. Based on his vision of values, he stops his sister from getting married and didn’t allow her to receive money from an old employer. First, he confess the murders to Sonya, a prostitute who was the daughter of a man that he knew in the past, than to the members of his family. Later, Raskolnikov visited the police department and confess his murders. He was sent to Siberia. Sonya followed him, and then they settled a new life.

  2. I was expecting him to end up in prison for a while. The title itself gives a small hint of that. Anyway, I believe the Punishment starts as soon as his mind doesn't allow him to be the same again after he committed the murders.
